Angmering - At the foot of the Downs | Population c. 6,000
Angmering is a picturesque village situated between Littlehampton and Worthing and just two miles from the coast. It is of historical interest, with roots stretching back to the Bronze Age and is the home to a number of historic houses dating back to the 1600s. It has retained its rural charm due to the preservation of the village square and the designated conservation area.
Within minutes you can be on the South Downs enjoying miles of unspoilt open country and woodland walks or on the beach at Rustington and East Preston. Residents have the choice of two village pubs, a Spanish restaurant, a cafe and a country hotel. There are two Churches, a library and Village Hall that is used by a variety of clubs, including Bridge, Whist, carpet bowls, dancing and occasional film shows
There are clubs for cricket, football, stoolball & Rugby in addition to golf at the old-established private Ham Manor Golf Club. Nearby is the Esporta Health Club with its indoor swimming pool and other facilities, adjacent to which is the Rustington Golf course, driving range and practice area.
There are two village schools and the Angmering senior school has dedicated Colleges for Sports & Science. The village Square features a number of shops for everyday needs and Sainsburys is about a mile away on the Rustington by pass.
The Angmering by pass diverts the main traffic away and whilst new developments have been built in recent years they have been sympathetically located so that the old heart of the village remains as the focal point. The main line railway station is closeby and has services to the coastal towns including Brighton & Portsmouth as well as Gatwick airport (45 minutes) and London Victoria - about 90 minutes. Bus services connect to Worthing, Littlehampton and further afield.
The historic town of Arundel, situated on the River Arun, is only four miles away and features many ancient buildings within the town in addition to the famous Castle and Cathedral.
Angmering offers a diversity of property from competitively priced, but good quality, modern homes for all sizes of family. At the top end of the market the Ham Manor Private Estate offers a selection of homes of all sizes with some backing on to the golf course.
