Meet the Partners

Graham Butt
Graham has been an Estate Agent for over 45 years, after a short apprentership with a local Estate Agent in Shoreham and Southwick he joined the original family Estate Agency, G.S Butt & Company, who at that time had offices in the Brighton, Hove and Lancing areas.

Graham established his own Company called Butt & Partners in 1968 with offices in Lancing and in 1971 opened in Littlehampton. During this time he was elected as President of The Worthing & District Estate Agents Association in 1984. Graham then sold Butt and Partners to Abbey National/Cornerstone in 1988 and became a Regional Sales Director covering the South East of England. Having resigned from Cornerstone in 1993 Graham re-established the Butt name as Graham Butt Estate Agents in 1994, which has expanded to the current 5 offices. Graham is still an active Senior Partner running the business. He has 4 children and 6 grandchildren and enjoys Sailing, Fishing and Golf at Ham Manor.

Clare Butt
Clare was ‘born and bred’ in Rustington and has lived there all of her life. Clare started her Estate Agency career with Bernard Tucker Estate Agents who used to have offices in Rustington. She then moved to join Graham at Littlehampton in 1975, during which time she managed one of the Littlehampton Offices until Butt and Partners was sold in 1988. Graham and Clare have been married for over 20 years and have a daughter Holly, who is studying Nutrition at the University of Surrey.

When the Company was re-established in 1994, Clare was very much involved and worked at all of the Residential Sales Offices before taking on the role of Human Resources for the company. Away from the business, she is learning to play Golf, but her main interest is travel.

Grant Williams
After leaving school, Grant joined the Army and served Worldwide for several years in the Coldstream Guards. He attributes much of his drive, discipline and determination to lessons learnt during that period.

He joined Graham Butt Estate Agents in 1995 to open and manage the Rustington Office. Having succeeded in turning this branch into the local market leader he became a Partner in 1997 and later opened the East Preston Office in 1998. Grant is now based at the Rustington Office again and is Partner in charge of the East Preston, Rustington and the Lettings Offices. Grant has recently moved to Rustington and is married with two daughters. At 40 Grant still plays Rugby, (although in his own words very slowly!) at Worthing Rugby Club based at Angmering.

David Butt
'Taking work home with him’ is an understatement for David as Graham’s oldest son, he lived “above the shop” firstly at Lancing and later at Littlehampton, so you could say it’s in his blood!

David started his career in 1985 working for an Independent agent, “Hamiltons” in Maidstone, where he learnt the foundations of the business before moving across to join General Accident Property Services, or GA as they were known, as Manager of their Maidstone office. David was very successful and was promoted to Area Manager in 1995 of 5 Offices before being persuaded to relocate back to the Sussex area and join the Family Firm as a Partner. He now runs the Littlehampton Office and our Financial Services business. David is married to Carole who works at our East Preston Office and they have two sons. In a previous life, David played Cricket for “The Mote Cricket Club” in Maidstone for almost 25 years and played regularly for the county league sides and Football to a similar standard but now passes his spare time playing Golf at Ham Manor and keeping fit.

Peter Burrell
Peter started his career over 40 years ago in London but soon saw greater opportunities in West Sussex when he joined King & Chasemore in Horsham. He was rapidly promoted through their other offices at Pulborough, East Preston and Rustington before moving on to Chichester in charge of Whitehead’s residential head office. Later progression led him to return to his home village of East Preston as a Partner in Pascoe & Partners. Some years later, following the sale to Alliance & Leicester Property Services, he acted for the A&L as a property marketing consultant, a challenging and very interesting role covering the South & West of England and Wales.

Peter welcomed the opportunity to join Graham Butt Estate Agents at their newly opened East Preston office in 1998. As a Business Development Consultant Peter helped create their Exclusive Homes and Land & New Homes Departments which have gone from strength to strength with the latter being involved in some way or another with almost every major development that has happened locally.
